You might take it to mean tattoos that are so well designed, drawn and shaded that they look as though they might just jump off their owner’s skin, or you might take it to mean tattoos literally etched onto skin in red and black lines, requiring some optical effort in order to reveal a fully rounded heart, swallow or skull – in both cases, it’s most definitely been done.
